A resin model of the pod of the Khibiny jamming system in the version for the Su-30SM, in 1:48 scale, from the Russian brand Temp Models. The pod is carried at the wingtip and on a model it replaces a simplified plastic part or completes a kit that does not have it at all. It is not an aircraft model but a separate equipment accessory.
Khibiny is a Russian electronic warfare system which on the Su-30 and Su-34 family is carried in pods at the wingtips. The task of the suite is to detect illumination by a hostile radar and answer it with jamming, so as to make it harder to guide missiles onto the aircraft. The version marked with the letter U is the arrangement for the two-seat multirole Su-30SM. The pod stands out in the silhouette of the machine, because it takes the place of the usual launch rails at the wingtips.
Release the part from the supports with a scalpel and level the mating face on abrasive paper on glass, so that the pod meets the edge of the wing without a gap. Wash the resin in lukewarm soapy water before painting. The front and rear antenna covers tend to be in a different shade from the body, so spray them separately. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue).
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
