File Tapered Type (1 Side Blade) is a Gunze modeling file with a tapered shape and a cutting surface on one side only. It is used for cleaning up the parts of plastic models.
Responsibility details are not available.
A modeling file from the Japanese manufacturer Gunze, part of a tool series for building plastic models. The name describes the two things that define the tool. The tapered shape means that the working part grows thinner toward the tip, so it reaches into narrow gaps and corners that the broad face of a file cannot get to. The single cutting side means that only one face abrades while the opposite one stays smooth. That is very practical in model building, because the neighboring surface the file rests against stays free of scratches.
Guide the file with an even stroke in one direction and do not press; a light cut gives a cleaner surface than brute force. After filing, smooth the surface with a sanding sponge or with a finer grit so the tool leaves no scratches that would show up once the paint is sprayed on. Clean clogged teeth with a dry brush, because stuck plastic reduces the cutting action. Store the tool so that the working part does not get knocked against other tools.
For modelers who build plastic models and want their clean-up under control even where an ordinary flat file is no help. It will be appreciated above all by those who work on busy parts and do not want to damage the relief next door while leveling a seam.
