About product

Flat gray - Gunze Aqueous Hobby Color acrylic paint

A flat gray paint from the Aqueous Hobby Color range of the Japanese maker Gunze (Mr. Hobby) in a 10 ml bottle. It is a water-thinned acrylic - safe, easy-to-use chemistry with fast drying and a nicely flat finish, suited to brush and airbrush alike.

Use

  • With a brush it can be applied almost straight from the bottle; for an airbrush, thin the paint.
  • Thinning: the thinner meant for the Aqueous range, or water at a pinch; never use lacquer thinner.
  • A versatile gray shade for vehicles, aircraft, interiors, running gear and as a base for weathering.
  • Under decals, gloss coat the area locally and once they are dry unify it with a matte varnish.

What to watch out for

Gunze makes several chemically different paint ranges. Aqueous is an acrylic - never mix it with the lacquer-based Mr. Color range or with the Acrysion range, as each needs its own thinner and they are not compatible. Stir the paint thoroughly before use; flat pigments settle to the bottom.

Who it is for

For modelers of every level - water-thinned chemistry is friendly to beginners, and experienced hands will appreciate how reliably the range behaves under an airbrush.

Work in a well ventilated space while spraying and store the bottle carefully closed.

FAQ

The thinner meant for the Aqueous acrylic range, or water at a pinch. Do not use lacquer thinner; it is not compatible with this chemistry.

No. Mr. Color is a lacquer range with different chemistry and its own thinner. Mix Aqueous only with paints of the same range.

Yes, once thinned with the Aqueous range thinner it sprays very well. With a brush you can work almost straight from the bottle.
