The set contains a 3D printed resin replica of the Russian Kh-35UE anti-ship guided missile, written X-35UE in the supplier's name, in 1:32 scale. This is an accessory for the underwing armament, not a model of an aircraft. The print holds the thin folding surfaces and the definition of the air intake, which a casting simplifies.

The real subject

The Kh-35 is a Russian subsonic anti-ship guided missile with a cruise flight just above the water and active radar guidance in the final stretch. In its design it recalls Western missiles of its class and it is intended against ships of medium size. The UE version is an upgraded form with longer reach and improved guidance. The missile is carried by aircraft and helicopters as well as by shore and shipboard launch systems.

Building and painting tips

First wash the 3D printed parts in warm water with a little dish soap, so that they are rid of the residue of printing resin. Cut the supports off with a sharp blade or a fine saw as close to the part as possible and sand the marks down with your airways protected. Resin does not bond with cement for polystyrene, so use cyanoacrylate glue. Lay a thin coat of primer on before painting, otherwise the paint holds poorly on a smooth print. Assemble and paint the weapons separately and glue them onto the pylon only once the varnish has dried, so that the fine surfaces are not rubbed.
