A resin R-27T air-to-air guided missile in 1:72 scale from the Russian brand Temp Models. The resin print renders the thin lifting surfaces and the cover of the seeker head more crisply than a plastic mold can in a small scale. It is not an aircraft model but a separate store to be hung under a finished model.
The R-27T is the heat-seeking version of the Soviet medium-range missile carried by the MiG-29 and the Su-27. The infrared seeker head finds the target by itself from the heat signature of its engines, so after launch the carrier no longer has to illuminate the target with radar and can break away at once. The price for that advantage is sensitivity to cloud and to decoys, which is why the missiles were carried in pairs with the radar-guided version.
Release the missile body from the supports on a work mat and without bending it. Sand the marks down with fine paper and wet sand, with respiratory protection. Wash the parts in lukewarm soapy water before painting. The cover of the seeker head is often done in a polished metallic paint or a clear coat so that it reads as glass. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue).
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
