A resin landing gear wheel set for a model of the MiG-17 fighter in 1:72 scale from the Russian brand Temp Models. The resin print renders both the tread pattern and the shape of the rim without the mold seam that runs down the middle of a plastic wheel. It is not an aircraft kit but replacement parts for a model you already have.
The MiG-17 grew out of an improvement of the preceding type: it received a differently shaped wing with more sweep and a reworked rear end, which cured its handling trouble at high speeds. It was built in large numbers and served all over the world, including in Czechoslovakia. For airfields with grass as well as paved surfaces, the landing gear was simple and robust.
Cut the print supports away with a scalpel and level the seating face so that the wheel sits square to the leg. Wash the resin in lukewarm soapy water before painting. Spray the tire a very dark gray and the rim separately, following the real subject. On an aircraft from a grass airfield, a greenish-brown tint along the bottom of the tread works well.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
