A resin set of landing gear wheels for a model of the MiG-29K carrier fighter in 1:48 scale from the Russian brand Temp Models. The set replaces the wheels from a plastic kit, on which the parting line of the mold always shows. Printing in resin manages the tread pattern and the detailed hub in one piece. It is not an aircraft kit but replacement parts for your own model.
The MiG-29K was created as the carrier version for operation from an aircraft carrier. It has a folding wing, strengthened landing gear and an arrestor hook, because it launches over a ski-jump ramp and lands on arrestor wires. This treatment is incomparably harder on the landing gear than a landing on a concrete runway, so the wheels are of a different design and wear out faster in service. On a model they are clearly visible, because the machine is usually built with the landing gear down.
Cut the supports off after printing with a scalpel and level the spot, so that the wheel sits square to the leg. Wash the resin in lukewarm soapy water before painting. Spray the tire a very dark gray and the hub separately, following the real thing. Salt spray on a deck leaves light deposits, so weathering toward gray looks more faithful than brown dust.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
