A resin set of landing gear wheels for a MiG-31 model in 1:48 scale from the Russian brand Temp Models, carrying the suffix 3D in its name. With that suffix the manufacturer tells the set apart from the other wheel set for the same aircraft, which it also makes. The parts replace the wheels from a plastic kit. It is not an aircraft kit.
The MiG-31 is among the heaviest combat aircraft ever to take off from ordinary airfields, and its landing gear is matched to that. The main legs carry a pair of wheels in tandem, slightly offset to the sides, so that the weight is spread and the machine does not sink into a surface with a lower bearing capacity. It is precisely this unusual arrangement that is clearly visible on a model from behind and from the side.
Cut the supports off with a new blade and level the mating spots on abrasive paper laid on glass. Wash the resin in lukewarm soapy water. Spray the tire a very dark gray and the hub separately, and use a circular mask on the transition. On the pair of wheels, check that both stand in one plane.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
