The set brings 3D printed landing gear wheels for the Yak-141 in 1:32 scale from Temp Models. It is not a model of the aircraft but a replacement for the parts from the kit: the printed wheel carries a crisper tread pattern, finer relief on the hub and a cleaner shape of the axle boss than an injection mold can give. For the sets of this range the manufacturer gives the nose wheel and the braked main wheels.
The Yak-141 is a Soviet supersonic aircraft with vertical take-off and landing, which first flew in 1987. Besides the main engine with a vectoring nozzle it carried two lift engines behind the cockpit, and at the turn of the 1980s and 1990s a series of performance records was set with it. The program never reached series production. The landing gear of the aircraft had to allow for touching down vertically, that is for a different distribution of the impact than in an ordinary landing.
The parts are printed from resin and are held only by thin supports. Cut them off with a sharp scalpel as close to the part as possible, sand the marks down with fine sandpaper and protect your airways while sanding. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Paint holds longer on a smooth print if you lay a thin coat of primer under it. Paint the wheel in stages: the hub first, then mask it and finish the tire. Dust pigment holds in the tread pattern on its own.
The set is an addition to building a model, not a model in its own right. It is supplied unassembled and unpainted, and glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
