The metallic blue-green Hobby Color shade with fine metallic particles. For the heat discoloration of exhausts and for glossy decorative surfaces.
Responsibility details are not available.
Fine metal flakes are dispersed in the binder here, and under light they reveal a blue-green sheen. The result matches no camouflage standard, but it can reproduce phenomena that an ordinary opaque shade cannot manage.
Most often where metal has been through high temperature. The steel of a motorcycle exhaust pipe, of the elbows of aircraft radial engines or of the nozzles of jet units passes through a band of color from straw through violet to blue-green, exactly according to how hot it was. The blue-green tone in that range corresponds to the most strongly heated places right at the outlet.
The second area is purely decorative. Motorcycle tanks, racers' helmets, the lacquered back of musical instruments, beetles' wings on dioramas with a nature theme, sword pommels on fantasy figures. Over a silver base the shade gives a deep layer of color that cannot be mixed from opaque paints.
Metallic shades need a smooth and preferably glossy surface underneath. On a rough surface the flakes turn at random and the sheen is broken up. Spray perpendicular and at a distance, because the particles settle in the direction of the airflow. Stir the contents properly before every pick-up, as the metal component sinks to the bottom considerably faster than an ordinary pigment and the paint would come out weak at the start. Let the finished surface cure completely and only then varnish over it, otherwise the sheen will be clouded.
