A spray with a clear gloss overcoat that seals a finished paint job and gives it a smooth gloss surface. It is not an ordinary clear, though: this range is built on a water-thinnable acrylic binder, so it is considerably gentler on what lies beneath it than the usual lacquer overcoats.
That is exactly where its main advantage lies. Hard lacquer overcoats can dissolve water-thinnable paints beneath them, smear pastel shades or lift hand painting on a figure. This overcoat reduces that risk markedly, and that is why modelers who have built with acrylic, painted with a brush or worked over a sensitive base reach for it.
The classic order is simple: spray the paint, then the gloss overcoat, lay the decals onto the smooth gloss, go over them with a setting solution and overcoat again. A gloss surface prevents air from being trapped under the decal film and the edge showing as a silvery frame.
Hold the spray roughly 20 centimeters from the model and lay down thin coats, leaving a few minutes between them to flash off. One heavy coat runs and creates pools in the corners. Shake the can for a minute before work and after spraying turn it briefly upside down and press until clean gas comes out, otherwise the nozzle will clog. The package volume is 86 ml.
Temperature and humidity are crucial. In a cold workshop or in damp weather the gloss layer can turn into a milky veil, because airborne moisture is trapped in the film. Let both the can and the model come to room temperature, therefore, and spray in dry conditions, ideally testing on a piece of sprue first.
