The large format and why it comes in useful

With a costume most material is lost in the layout. When a part does not fit in one piece, it has to be divided, and every joint then has to be hidden. The format of 1000 x 500 mm, that is 100 x 50 cm, gives 0.5 square meters of area and makes it possible to cut even a longer part in one piece: a breastplate, a longer belt, a pauldron or the back part of a cuirass. The black version also forgives small shortcomings, because in a dark surface the traces of dividing are not as visible as on a light one.

Laying the parts out

Before you reach for the blade, draw all the parts out on the sheet at once. Cut paired parts of a costume mirrored and label them straight away, so that you do not confuse the left and right sides. Place the large parts at the edges of the sheet and fill the smaller ones into the gaps between them; the offcuts then stay in one piece and you will use them for straps, stiffeners and repairs. The designation XL is a size code, so when ordering more compare the dimensions, not just the name of the line.

Cutting and the further procedure

First try the shape out in paper, trace the verified template and cut with a sharp blade run along a ruler, preferably in several shallow passes rather than in one heavy one. Change the blade in good time, as a blunt one tears the material. Always try the procedure on an offcut. Check the recommended temperature for forming, a suitable glue and the way of finishing the surface in the manufacturer's instructions.

Storage and terms of supply

Store the sheet flat and away from sources of heat. The material is supplied in the stated size; glue, paints, buckles, straps and tools are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
