Decking for the load area of the SSys and SSkra heavy railway flatcars from T-Model. It replaces the plastic floor of the car with real wood, which after painting and weathering looks like planks, because planks are what it is. The car itself is obtained separately.
The German state railway carried tanks on heavy flatcars of the so-called Schwerer Plattformwagen design. The SSys type was a fifty-ton flatcar of wartime production on which Panthers and Tigers were taken to the front. The SSkra Köln designation belonged to a forty-eight-ton car of similar purpose. Today both are built above all as a base for a loading scene with a ramp, tie-down chains, chocks under the tracks and accompanying personnel, as transport by rail was more common with heavy machines than driving under their own power.
First lay the base in place dry and check the overhang; trimming should be done in small steps and preferably in two goes. Wood takes stains and heavily thinned oil paints differently from plastic: let them flow into the grain and only then wipe the excess off with a cloth. A grayed, trodden deck comes about from a combination of a thin gray filter and a dry brush. Apply oil stains in spots where the tracks stood.
The railway car, the equipment carried and paints are not part of the package.
