Ten polystyrene rods with a square cross section of one by one millimeter and a length of 350 mm. This is not a kit or an accessory for a particular model but material for work of your own. The numbers in the name are millimeters, not a scale. The square cross section of one millimeter is probably the most used size of the whole range of profiles: it is thin enough not to look coarse and at the same time stiff enough to carry something.
Styrene does not join the way resin or metal does. Modeling cement for plastic bites into the surface chemically and the two parts are literally welded into one piece, so the joint tends to be stronger than the surrounding material. The conditions are a clean mating surface and the smallest possible gap, because the cement will not fill a gap. Proceed by offering the parts up exactly first, and only then touch a brush with thin cement to the edge of the seam and let it flow in. Hold it without moving for a few seconds, because a shift at the moment when the material is softened will smear the joint. The joint reaches full strength after several hours, and until then do not handle the part. On a seam at a visible edge it is worth leaving a slight excess of the softened material and sanding it down once dry, which creates a transition with no visible line.
For modelers who build structures and jigs themselves, for diorama builders and for everyone who wants a stock of universal profile at hand. Ten pieces of 350 mm is a quantity to last a long time.
