An accessory for a diorama and a layout on the theme of an electrical substation. The size and the version are given by the manufacturer on the packaging.
Responsibility details are not available.
A substation is the place where electrical energy from a line is transformed and distributed onward. On a diorama and on a model railroad layout it is a rewarding theme: it fills an empty corner of a scene, separates the industrial part from the residential one and adds to a line or a factory site a technical detail that reveals the setting and the period at first glance. At the same time it gives a point to the poles and the line, which otherwise end in a scene with no destination.
The size, the version, the extent of the package and whether the accessory comes finished or to be assembled are given by the manufacturer on the packaging; compare them with what you already have in a scene, because with technical structures a mismatch of size strikes the eye more than it does with vegetation.
A technical object looks believable only once there is a trace of use leading to it: a paved or beaten area beneath it, fencing, an access road to the gate, cable runs. A new and clean surface gives a model away, so it pays to knock the gloss back and to pick out the edges and the corners with a faint dark shade. A substation tends to stand aside from residential buildings, so it can also serve as a natural divide between two parts of a scene.
A diorama, a base, paints and glue are not included, unless stated otherwise.
