XC07 Turqoise Green

The color

XC07 Turquoise Green is a blue-green modeling paint carried in the Gunze Mr.Color branch. The name refers to turquoise, so it is a green shifted toward blue. It suits surfaces that are meant to look fresh and to stand apart from an ordinary green and an ordinary blue alike: the covers of robots, vehicle accessories, small parts and accents on edges.

Thinning and application

Stir the paint thoroughly before work, as the pigment settles in the bottle and an unstirred shade dries unevenly. Choose the thinner intended for this line and the thinning ratio according to the manufacturer's instructions given on the bottle packaging; a thinner from another paint system can curdle the paint. With an airbrush, apply several thin coats with a short pause for them to become tacky, because one heavy coat floods the engraving and dries into blotches. A brush works better on smaller areas, as the paint becomes tacky quickly and the strokes then level out less well.

Building and painting tips

• wash and degrease the surface before painting, as the paint tears on greasy plastic
• try the resulting tone on a plastic offcut, as the base noticeably changes the look of the shade
• a blue-green tone looks fresher over a light base; on dark plastic it turns gray
• wipe the neck of the bottle after work, otherwise the cap dries on and next time it opens only by force
• you unify the sheen of the surface only with a final clear coat, according to the look you want

Who the paint is for

For modelers who paint in the Gunze Mr.Color system and want a ready-made shade without having to mix it from several bottles. The package holds only the paint; the thinner, brushes, an airbrush and the model are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise. Work in a well-ventilated room and store the paint out of the reach of children.
