Aber Engrave plate (88 x 57 mm) – pattern 04 is an etched brass plate that serves as a die for creating relief surfaces. With it a modeler makes his own textured sheet to measure.
Responsibility details are not available.
An etched brass plate from the Polish maker Aber bearing pattern number 04. It works as a simple die: you lay thin foil on the plate, burnish it and the pattern is transferred into it. The working area measures 88 x 57 mm without the frame. The maker lists the item among the meshes and embossing plates, that is among the aids rather than among the kits.
With fine patterns it pays to relieve the stress in the material before the work, that is to leave it weighted down flat for a while. Make the impression with steady pressure, not point by point, or else uneven areas will result. If you are working with metal foil, a thin layer of soapy solution on the burnisher cuts the friction and keeps it from binding. Once the pattern has been transferred, mark the part out and trim it with a sharp scalpel along a ruler, not with scissors, which bend the edge.
For ship modelers, diorama builders and advanced modelers of vehicles who want full control over the surface of their model and not to be left dependent on ready-made photo-etched sets. The advantage is that you make the area exactly at the moment you need it, and in any size you like.
This is a modeling tool, not a kit. Material for transferring the pattern is not included in the package.
