U-STAR Etch Slide Change Parts 24 is a fret of small photo-etched detail parts for improving plastic models afterwards. It serves as an accessory to an already purchased model, not as a stand-alone kit.

An accessory set from the manufacturer U-STAR intended for detailing plastic models. In the package there is a fret with etched elements, which are cut off the frame and glued onto the surface of a model; neither the model itself nor glue is included. The elements are universal, so the modeler lays them out according to their own intention; most of them will be used on robots and sci-fi equipment, but they will also find use on military equipment and in a diorama. The number in the name distinguishes the individual variants within the whole range.
The main difference is in thickness. Injection-molded plastic always has a certain minimum wall strength, whereas etched sheet is thinner by an order of magnitude, and so the detail looks convincing in scale. The second benefit is visual: regularly placed small elements break up a large smooth area and lend the model scale, because the eye finally has something by which to judge size. That is exactly why photo-etched details are most often glued onto hulls, panels, engine covers and the transitions between parts.
Never bend the fret in your hand. Separate the parts with a scalpel against a hard surface, or with special shears for etchings. Degrease the surface before gluing, otherwise cyanoacrylate glue will not take hold evenly. Dose the glue with a pin or a wire, as a drop from the tube is too large for a part this small. If you are going to paint the parts, start with a base coat in a thin layer, so that the detail is not flooded.
