Hawker Sea Hawk exhaust nozzles 1:72 (Quickboost)

This resin set from the Quickboost brand of the maker Aires brings faithfully cast exhaust nozzles for a model of the British Hawker Sea Hawk carrier jet aircraft in 1:72 scale. It is not an airplane model, but a detail accessory for more experienced modelers. The one-piece resin nozzles have thin trailing edges and do without the seams that have to be sanded down on split plastic parts.

The real subject

The Hawker Sea Hawk was a British single-engine carrier jet fighter and attack aircraft of the 1950s. It served with British naval aviation and with other countries and had distinctive bifurcated exhaust nozzles led out along the sides of the rear fuselage. Faithful nozzles improve the look of the rear of a model markedly.

Tips for working with resin

The nozzles come in a pair, one on each side of the fuselage, so fit them symmetrically and at the same angle. First wash the castings in lukewarm soapy water so that the mold release residue from the mold is removed. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw and sand the cut surfaces with respiratory protection. Glue the parts with cyanoacrylate glue, not with cement for plastic.
