The Hasegawa photo-etch scissors are a modeling tool intended for cleanly separating parts from photo-etched frets. The cut is guided so that the thin metal neither bends nor deforms.

A specialized modeling tool from the Japanese manufacturer Hasegawa, intended for working with photo-etched parts. Photo-etched frets are made of very thin metal sheet, and ordinary nippers for plastic bend or ripple them as they cut; repairing such a part is then often impossible. The photo-etch scissors have shaped jaws that guide the cut straight without lifting the surface of the part, so that the finished part stays flat and ready for bending and gluing.
Always find the part on the fret according to the instructions first and cut as close to the part itself as possible; the remaining tab is then easily sanded away with a file. Work over a mat or in a closed box, because small photo-etched parts like to jump away and disappear. Keep the jaws clean and do not use them on wire, hard plastics or materials they are not intended for; that only chips the cutting edge needlessly. After use, wipe the scissors and store them in a dry place so that they do not corrode.
For modelers who regularly use photo-etched detail sets and want their parts cut off straight and without deformation. Builders of ship models in the small scales, where photo-etched parts are used most, will appreciate them in particular.
The tool has sharp jaws: keep it out of the reach of children and take care while working. Small metal offcuts are sharp, so clear the work surface.
