An egg model kit of the F-20A Tiger Shark from a line of super-deformed models with no fixed scale from the maker Freedom Model Kits.
Responsibility details are not available.
A plastic kit in shortened proportions, which the Taiwanese maker Freedom Model Kits places in its compact series. The fuselage is deliberately shortened and the front enlarged, so the result comes across as a cute caricature of the real aircraft. That is exactly why no scale is given on these models, by which they could be compared with the real machine.
The Northrop F-20 came about as a private venture by a company that wanted to offer its allies a simple and cheap fighter. It was derived from the proven light series, but received a single more powerful engine instead of the original pair, and more modern electronics. The first flight took place in 1982. Only three prototypes were built, two of them crashed during demonstration flights and the program ended in 1986 without the type winning a single customer.
Given the simplified shapes there are few parts and assembly is quick, so the model suits a joint project with children or a rest between demanding projects. The larger flat areas benefit from spraying from a can or an airbrush, because brush marks would show on them. The result sets off well on a small display base.
The set is meant to be glued and painted; neither paints nor glue are included in it.
