The Farm Horses set belongs to the line of scenic accessories of the American brand Woodland Scenics for HO scale (1:87). It holds figures of farm horses in various stances, standing, grazing and in motion. The animals are modeled in detail and hand-painted, they are supplied finished and are only set in place.
An empty paddock fence is just a fence; with a few horses it becomes a working paddock at once. The set belongs on a pasture along the track, in a farmyard, by a stable or at a water trough. Animals have the same role on a layout as people: they give a scene scale and life, and at the same time they call for no finishing work. They combine well with figures of farmers and with further rural accessories of the same line.
Do not place the horses regularly: a herd keeps together in reality, while individual animals graze off to the side. Point the heads toward the grass or toward the fence, so that the scene does not look stiff. They are glued down with a spot drop of cyanoacrylate glue, and on a grassy surface PVA glue holds well too. A fine spray of matte varnish evens out the gloss of the paint, and a pinch of light pigment on the lower parts of the legs settles the animals into dusty terrain. Shades may differ slightly between production runs.
The figures are supplied finished and hand-painted. Glue, paints and a base are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
