Yellow-green is among the tones the eye always overrates. Yellow Green Fixer is a product of the Lifecolor brand from the Fixer range, that is, a means of fixing an effect that has been created, and its tone lies in the part of the color spectrum to which the human eye is most sensitive. That has a direct effect on a model: a patch of the same size in yellow-green seems larger and more conspicuous than the same patch in brown or blue.
Warm and more saturated tones visually come forward, while cool and muted ones recede. On a real machine this difference is evened out by distance and by the layer of air between the viewer and the surface, which knocks the saturation back. But a model stands half a meter from the eyes and there is no such layer between it and the viewer, so a yellow-green tone reaches the eye at full strength. In practice that means an area which on real equipment would look like unobtrusive tinting turns on a model in 1:48 into a dominant feature you see before the shape itself. The smaller the scale, then, the more carefully you should dose this tone; in 1:24 and larger you can allow yourself more, because there the eye has enough surrounding area to compare with.
For modelers who work with organic and natural effects on vehicles and in dioramas and want control over how strong they are. Suitable anywhere the application should be clear without taking over the whole model.
