Fine grass turf in a yellow grass shade, contents 353 cm³. A small grain for mown areas, for a base layer and for smaller scales.
Responsibility details are not available.
A small fraction does something different from coarse foliage. It does not rise above the surface but covers it in a continuous carpet, which is why it suits everywhere the grass is meant to be low and kept: a station platform, the area between tracks, the lawn in front of a station building, or the edge of a runway. The yellow shade also gives all that a late summer character.
The material serves as the first layer under everything else as well. Sprinkled onto glue, it fills the porosity of plaster and of foam and takes away the unpleasant smoothness on which every further turf shows up like a patch. Only on a base prepared this way do taller tufts and bushes come into their own. The contents are 353 cm³, which corresponds to 21.6 cubic inches.
The procedure is simple. The area is brushed with thinned white glue, the fine turf is sprinkled on densely and left to dry, and the excess is tapped off. Coarser material follows, applied only in places, and finally any tufts and bushes. It is good to spray each layer with fixative, otherwise the bottom comes loose during further work.
Besides grassy areas, the small grains suit suggesting moss on a roof, weeds in a crack in concrete, or sparse growth on a gravel slope. In small scales they stand in for a continuous meadow as well, because their grain there matches the real height of the growth. While working, a sieve of fine fabric proves itself, spreading the material more evenly than sprinkling straight from the package, and the finished area then has no visible lumps or thin spots.
