FLUOR BLUE – INK

The paint

Fluor Blue from the INK line by AK Interactive. Inks are thinner and more translucent than opaque paints: they do not cover the base but tint it and let what is underneath show through. The resulting shade is therefore always created by the ink and the base color working together, not by the ink alone.

Field of use

It is used for glazes and toning, for color transitions, for brightening individual areas and for richly colored details where the shade is meant to shine. The luminous blue suits fantasy and science fiction figures, light and energy effects, and the accessories and small items that are meant to stand out from a model. It shows to best effect over a light, smooth base; over a dark one it is lost, so a white or light gray area is usually laid down under it first.

How to work with it

• Shake the bottle well before use
• Apply it in thin coats and let each one dry
• Build the saturation by repeating, not by one heavy application
• It is thinned with water and the brushes are washed in water
• Try the shade on an offcut over the same base as on the model

Count on a translucent paint emphasizing everything beneath it: an irregularity, a fingerprint, even an imperfectly sanded joint. So prepare the base more carefully than for opaque shades.

Terms of supply

The volume of the bottle and the recommended thinning are given by the manufacturer in the details with the product. The model, brushes, thinner and clear coat are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
