This is a book, not a model. The title is the third volume of the IN COMBAT series and, according to its subtitle, it deals with the subject of future conflicts, an area that in modeling stands outside any historical subject: futuristic and imaginary machines, mechanized designs and settings where the builder does not have to check every rivet against a period photograph. The edition is in English, which is important information for this item - do not expect a Czech text.
With historical vehicles the result is decided by accuracy. With futuristic subjects it is the other way round: what decides is the inner logic of the design and convincing wear. A model that has no real subject has to explain to the viewer by itself how it works and what it has been through - that is why this genre places such emphasis on traces of service, damage, additional equipment and placement in a setting. At the same time the techniques a modeler knows from historical vehicles work well here - chipped paint, running rust, dust settled in places a hand cannot reach. Carrying these methods over to an imaginary subject tends to be exactly what gives a futuristic model its credibility.
For modelers with an interest in science fiction and futuristic subjects, for diorama builders looking for new themes and for readers who do not mind English.
