A blue shade from Mr.Paint from the range of finishes of the Japan Air Self-Defense Force, that is, the JASDF. The paints of this brand are lacquer-based and are supplied already thinned to a consistency for spraying, so they are drawn straight from the bottle with no further thinning. A lacquer base dries quickly and forms a thin, smooth layer that does not clog the fine surface detail of a model.
It is applied with an airbrush in several thin coats. Leave the first pass rather translucent and build the opacity up gradually; one heavy coat easily runs together and floods the panel lines. A short pause between coats is enough, as the paint dries to the touch quickly. If you need to adjust the consistency or to clean the gun after work, use the thinner of the same brand. The finish bonds well to a smooth, degreased base, so on bare plastic and on metal and resin accessories reach for a primer first.
The shade will serve when building models of Japanese machines of the postwar era and anywhere you need a saturated blue in modeling quality. The paint can be sealed with a gloss clear coat for decals and with a matte clear coat to unify the surface. Apply masking tape only to a perfectly hardened coat, not merely to a surface that is dry to the touch.
Work in a well-ventilated space, best of all at an extraction booth and with a respirator; the fumes of lacquer are nothing pleasant. Close the bottle carefully after use, otherwise the paint thickens. The package contains the paint only; the model and the thinner are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
