Three sanding boards of aluminum alloy in a larger size, serving as a rigid backing under abrasive paper. The set is aimed at surfaces that an ordinary small board falls short on.
A plane is not lost while sanding for want of force but because of the length of the stroke. A short backing rocks on a large surface, follows a slight undulation and after a few dozen strokes turns it into a wave that gloss paint will not forgive. A longer board, by contrast, rests on the two highest points and takes them down until the surface settles into one plane. The difference shows most on the fuselages of aircraft and the hulls of ships, on the sides of a tank hull, on cowlings and on large flat panels, where the seams run across the whole part. In a cockpit or between wheels, on the other hand, a large board is a nuisance and a miniature version does a better job.
It is aimed at builders of large scales, ships and vehicles and at modelers who paint to a high gloss and need a flawless base.
Do not breathe the abrasive dust and ventilate the bench; for longer dry sanding use a respirator.
