Two sheets of polishing material in 8000 grit measuring 100 by 75 mm. The last step but one before the finest polishing, usable dry and in water.

A grit of eight thousand no longer sands in the true sense. It removes only the thinnest layer and above all it levels the mark left behind by the six thousand step. After it the surface looks satin, with a matte sheen, and it lacks only the last pass with the finest material for outlines to start reflecting in it. The package consists of two sheets one hundred by seventy-five millimeters.
Most often to replace a used-up step from a set, because in practice it is exactly the fine steps that run out first. On its own it also suits places where an area does not need the whole sequence of grits: freshly sprayed paint with a tiny speck, a slightly roughened clear part or a metal tube where the matte mark from a cut just needs leveling.
A sheet can be cut into strips that you can push into narrow places between rivets and panel joints. A smaller piece can also be wrapped around a rounded dowel to reach into a groove that a flat backing would not get to. Fine steps readily clog with paint residue, so it pays to rinse them before the filling dries. Once the layer has dried you will not get it out of the backing again and the sheet loses its effect even though it looks unused from the outside. Store it clean and flat, then, rather than crumpled in a drawer.
