Leather is the first thing on a figure that gives away whether someone painted it with care. This brown shade, carried under the number of the American Federal Standard FS30117, suits the leather parts of equipment precisely because it is neither rust-colored nor chocolate: belts, straps, holsters, boots and the carrying straps of field gear.
A strap on a figure is a narrow band barely a centimeter long that also runs across the folds of fabric. It pays to paint it with a thin brush in one direction and to start from the place where it comes out from under another part of the equipment. A hint of the sheen of leather belongs only on the bends and the buckles; the whole band is not meant to be glossy, or it looks like plastic.
For modelers of figures who want one firm base tone for leather accessories and to derive the shadows and the lights from it. The name of the shade aims at German vehicles, but on figures it will do the same service away from them too.
Keep out of the reach of children and work in a well-ventilated space.
