Paint Forge Diamonds 2 Stencils M — a universal masking stencil

Diamonds 2 Stencils is a universal stencil with diamond cutouts, and the manufacturer lists it as the second variant of this geometric pattern alongside the basic Diamonds range. You lay the sheet on an already painted surface and apply paint through the cutouts; it is not a mask cut for a particular kit but a reusable aid for a regular grid.

The letter M in the name marks the smaller of the pair of sheets that Paint Forge offers for this pattern; the larger sheet carries the letter L in its name. The smaller format holds better on small parts, on figures and on curved areas.

How the stencil is used

• Let the base coat dry out completely, and only then mask.
• Press the sheet down over the whole area — with a grid a spot that does not sit flat shows up at once as a blurred shape among sharp ones.
• Lead the airbrush perpendicular and spray several very thin coats.
• Before the first pass, lay out where the first row will be, and then shift the stencil by the same step.
• Lift the stencil off while damp and clean it at once, so that the edges of the cutouts stay sharp.
