The place where freight changed its means of transport

The dock by a storehouse or a goods office used to be the busiest point of a whole transfer yard. A car stopped with its edge at the wooden platform exactly at the height of the wagon floor, so that crates did not have to be lifted, and from there they traveled inside on hand trucks. Consignments waiting to be dispatched piled up around, a scale stood by the wall and in the corner was the rest of a load that had not gone out during the shift. On a model that disorder matters more than the platform itself: only it reveals that work goes on here.

The small things the set holds

The package holds the usual equipment of a transfer yard, that is crates, a scale, a forklift and a hand truck for barrels. These are separate castings meant to be set out over the area, not a kit for a building. The dock, the storehouse and the wagon therefore have to be ready; the set fills them with contents. Figures are not part of the package, so the scene will stay without people until the builder adds them from elsewhere.

How an arrangement comes out convincing

Leaving free space around every object that can be walked through proves itself. Crates are stacked in irregular heaps at the edge of the platform, the forklift stands turned toward the dock and the hand truck tends to lean against the wall, as if somebody had just put it down. A few pieces placed right inside the doors suggest that the store continues further than you can see. A little scattered dust in places of frequent movement then ties the castings to the base, so that they do not stand on it as if threaded.
