Pure Orange is a rich orange from the LP modeling line by Tamiya, carried under the manufacturer's part number LP-51. The name refers to a pure orange tone with no shift toward brown or red, so the shade stays strong even over a larger area and does not look faded. It is a color meant to catch the eye on a model, not to blend in with its surroundings.
Orange in this role serves on conspicuous and warning surfaces: emergency service equipment, sports cars, trainers and test aircraft with garishly painted sections, and also on lights, cones, transport containers and small diorama equipment. It also finds use in mixing, where a small proportion of orange is enough to shift a red or a yellow in the direction you want.
Stir the paint thoroughly before work, as the pigment settles at the bottom and an unstirred shade comes out paler. Orange has poor covering power on its own, so apply it over a light base, best white or light gray, and build it up from several thin coats. One heavy coat fills the surface detail and still comes out uneven. The thinner intended for this line and the thinning ratio for spraying as well as for the brush are given by the manufacturer on the package; go by that when cleaning the tools too.
Thinner, base paint and tools are not included, unless stated otherwise.
