Shade LP-64 Olive Drab from the Tamiya LP modeling paint line, listed with reference to Japan Ground Self-Defense Force equipment.
Responsibility details are not available.
Olive green is one of the most widely used shades on military equipment models of any kind. This tone is listed with reference to the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force, but it also works on other vehicles and on equipment where the green should be muted, leaning toward brown rather than grass. It serves well as an overall base, over which lighter and darker tones are then built, since on its own it stays neutral and does not draw attention.
Stir the bottle's contents thoroughly before use, or settled pigment will shift the resulting tone. The thinner, mixing ratio and recommended application method follow the manufacturer's instructions on the package; use thinner made for this line. Apply the paint in several thin coats and let the surface flash off between them; one heavy coat will fill in panel-line engraving and fine molded detail. Test the process on a scrap piece of plastic first.
A large area in a single shade looks flat, so lighten the center of panels with a slightly lighter tone and darken the lower areas instead. Unify the surface with a gloss clear coat before decals, since a white haze forms under a decal on a matte base. Weathering — dust, mud and signs of use — comes last of all.
The model, thinner, brushes and an airbrush are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
