A liquid pigment glaze from the Liquid Pigments Washes range, carried under the designation LPW37. It serves to bring out relief and for weathering work on a model.
Responsibility details are not available.
A glaze of this type is a thin fluid with pigment dispersed in it. Once laid on, it runs by capillary action into engraved seams, corners and folds, where settled pigment stays after drying, while it can be wiped off the raised faces. The result is a depth that a covering coat alone does not give: the model stops looking like a uniform area and starts to have shadows where its subject has them too. The product is carried under the designation LPW37 and its name combines a purple tone with a light red; the particular use is set out in the manufacturer's color chart.
Shake the bottle before work, as the pigment settles at the bottom and without stirring the shade would not match. It is laid on with a fine-tipped brush into the individual seams, not across the whole part. The excess is wiped off before it has dried completely, with a cloth or a cotton swab lightly moistened in the thinner designated for this range according to the manufacturer's directions. Run the strokes when wiping from the top down, in the direction water would run on the subject, so that the traces look natural.
The effect is built up in layers. One weak layer looks unobtrusive, two or three already give the depth you want, and anyone who overdoes it gets a dirty model with no legible shape. Try the product out first on an offcut or in a less visible place.
The product named is supplied. The model, brushes, thinner and varnishes are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
