MDF Movement Trays 25mm 5x5

MDF Movement Trays 25mm 5x5

A Green Stuff World gaming tray meant to let a group of figures move across the playing area all at once. The designation 25mm refers to the size of base the layout is prepared for, the figure 5x5 describes the grid arrangement of the positions, and the abbreviation MDF is given in the name itself. It is not a display plinth for a cabinet but an aid for play.

Handling and the pace of a game

The greatest benefit of a tray shows not in looks but in time. Moving a unit figure by figure is slow and the formation drifts a little every time. With a tray a single motion is enough and the formation stays exactly as it was. Equally, a whole unit can be set aside, cleared off the table or carried into a transport box without being assembled piece by piece. With larger formations, such as this 5x5 layout, that difference speeds a whole turn up noticeably.

What to keep in mind before buying

• measure the bases of your figures; the layout is prepared for the size in the name
• allow for the overall footprint of a unit growing with the tray
• when taking casualties off it is a good idea to have agreed which side they come from
• one uniform layout across an army simplifies preparing for a game

Who it is for

For players of tabletop battle games with formations who want to speed up moves and keep a unit together. It is also useful for anyone who transports an army often and does not want to assemble it one figure at a time every time.
