1:72 SF-37 Viggen is a plastic kit of the reconnaissance version of the Swedish supersonic Saab 37 aircraft in 1:72 scale from Tarangus.

The kit captures the photo-reconnaissance version of the Swedish Saab 37 Viggen combat aircraft. It is an injection-molded plastic model meant to be glued and painted, that is, a classic kit and not a finished model. Go through the instructions supplied with the kit for the exact contents of the box and the marking options before you start building; the extent differs between individual releases.
The Viggen was a single-engine aircraft with an unmistakable combination of a delta wing and a forward canard with flaps of its own. It was powered by a turbojet with an afterburner and a thrust reverser, thanks to which the machine touched down short and braked within a limited runway length. That was the key to the Swedish concept of dispersed basing, where fighter and attack units moved out to road strips and field sites. The SF-37 version was created as a tactical photo-reconnaissance machine derived from the attack version: instead of a radar it carried a set of cameras in a reshaped nose and was used to photograph targets and the coast. In the Swedish Air Force it served from the mid-1970s until the whole 37 family was withdrawn at the beginning of the 21st century.
Proceed in the classic way: separate the parts with a knife, clean up the mold seams and finish and close the cockpit before you close the fuselage. On an aircraft with a nose wheel and a heavy tail it pays to check the balance in advance and, if needed, add weight in the nose so that the model does not sit back on its tail. The characteristic Swedish camouflage of sharply separated color fields looks best sprayed with an airbrush through cut masks or over a thin masking compound, so that the edges stay straight and free of bleed. Apply a gloss coat before the decals and, once dry, unify the surface with a matte or semi-gloss coat.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
