A set of six shades for Finnish armored vehicles: the overall green of the years 1959 to 1981 and the four colors of the disruptive scheme introduced in 1981.
Responsibility details are not available.
For three decades the Finnish army kept a uniform green finish, and only at the beginning of the 1980s did it move to a disruptive camouflage. This set covers the whole development: from the postwar single color to the four-tone scheme that the vehicles wear to this day.
Vert IR OTAN in shade 0211 matches the Finnish Kimmo Kenttävihreä, originally listed as TY80312. It was the overall finish of all tracked and wheeled vehicles from 1959 to 1976. It is followed by Kenttävihreä to standard TM 1474/76, with which vehicles were gradually repainted between 1976 and 1981.
The remaining four colors belong to the camouflage introduced in 1981. Dark Moss Green, matching FS14077, is the Finnish Tummanvihreä AN11, Vaaleanvihreä AN22 forms the lighter green component, NATO Brown close to FS30051 corresponds to the shade Ruskea AN33 and NATO Black to FS37030 is Musta AN44. The brown appears only on part of the fleet, namely on vehicles such as the Buk, the XA-360 and the Leguan bridgelayer.
The selection makes sense for anyone building Nordic vehicles who wants the periods together: two greens for older builds in a single tone, the four colors for more modern vehicles with broken fields. Because the shades are tied to dates, the decision can also be made the other way round, from the date of a photograph to how the vehicle should have looked at that moment.
