The eight-part set of the Red Line range covers the finishes of Bundeswehr equipment from the postwar Gelboliv through the three-color NATO pattern to the temporary overpaints for foreign missions. With each tone a link to the RAL or Federal Standard is given.
Responsibility details are not available.
The package follows the color development of German ground equipment from 1955, when the Bundeswehr came into being. The starting tone is Gelboliv to RAL 6014, a uniform yellowish olive finish of the kind that until the eighties was carried by the Leopard 1 tanks, the Marder infantry fighting vehicles and the Gepard anti-aircraft vehicles.
The second trio matches the standard that settled in the middle of the eighties: a green to FS34094 and RAL 6031, a brown to FS30051 and RAL 8027 and a black to FS37030 and RAL 9021. These three tones make up the softly bounded patches on the Leopard 2, the Fuchs wheeled carriers and the artillery equipment.
The remaining quartet belongs among the Umtarnfarben, that is the shades applied only temporarily when a vehicle leaves for a different environment. They are the sandy beige RAL 1039, the gray-beige RAL 1040, the sandy brown RAL 8031 and the light olive RAL 6040. It was exactly with these that units sent to the Balkans and to Afghanistan were overpainted.
The composition is put together so that a modeler can manage one vehicle in several periods of its service at once and does not have to hunt for the shades one at a time.
