A finished handmade scenery tree, not a kit. It arrives assembled and painted, so all you need to do is anchor it into the base of a scene. The height runs around 230 to 270 mm and the trunk is tall — the crown sets in only in the upper part of the tree, as is typical of a larch grown in a closed forest canopy, where the lower branches have died off for lack of light. Because it is a free scenery element it is not tied to a single scale: in large modeling scales it corresponds to a tree roughly eight to nine and a half meters tall, in smaller scales to a mature tree of around twenty meters.
The larch is the only common European conifer that sheds its needles for the winter. It grows with a straight trunk of little taper, has an airy, more open crown and fine needles growing in small bundles on short shoots. In the green version it matches the growing season from spring to the end of summer. In the landscape it is found in mountain and foothill regions and in managed forests, where it is planted for its high-quality, durable timber.
Drill a hole in the base, plant the trunk into it and fix it with cyanoacrylate or modeling filler. Hide the root flare with filler, soil and a layer of litter, so that the tree does not look stuck in. In a group, plant trees of unequal height and put the tallest pieces at the back — a large tree at the front swallows the view of the scene. Litter, low growth and dry grass suit the foot of the tree. Do not add needles in an autumn color under the crown if the tree itself is in the summer version.
This is a finished scenery accessory for building dioramas, not a model kit. The base, the glue and any further material are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
