A Hataka modeling paint from the Orange Line range. The shade carries the name MRG Stone; the English word stone points to muted stone tones, that is to the part of the chart where the sand, grayish and earthy shades lie. The manufacturer gives no color chart number with this name, so judge the shade against a sample and against the reference material for your real subject rather than against the name alone.
Stir the contents of the bottle thoroughly before use, as the pigment settles to the bottom. Choose the thinner and the thinning ratio according to the manufacturer's instructions on the packaging, that is always the thinner made for this range. Mixing different ranges with each other does not pay off, as the binder may curdle and the coat then goes grainy. Apply several thin coats instead of one heavy one and let each one set. Wash, degrease and even the base out with a primer beforehand.
Light earthy shades cover less well than dark ones and a lot depends on what is under them: over dark plastic the tone comes out cooler than over a light one. So spray a test sample on a spare piece of plastic, let it dry and decide only by that. A light area will also show every unevenness without mercy, so finish the filling and sanding before you spray. If you combine the shade with other earthy tones, spray them side by side on one sample; the differences show far better that way than on separate patches.
The paint is supplied on its own. The thinner, primer and varnish are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
