A modeling paint from the Aqua line by Mr.Paint in the shade RLM 63 Hellgrau, the manufacturer's part number MRP-A056. A light gray from the German aircraft standard.
Responsibility details are not available.
The number 63 is the position in the German RLM aircraft standard, under which the finish shades of military aircraft were prescribed in the 1930s and 1940s. The German word Hellgrau means light gray. The shade therefore belongs to the group of light gray tones of this standard, which appeared on aircraft on large surfaces as well as on small lettering and codes.
Light grays cover less well than dark shades, so it pays to even out the undercoat. On mottled plastic with filled seams the paint would build up unevenly and the repaired spots would show through. Smooth, wash and degrease the surface, stir the bottle and apply the paint in several thin coats with a short pause between them. Thin it with the thinner intended for this line of paints; the manufacturer gives the thinning ratio in the instructions.
Every intervention shows on a light gray, so be sparing with the finishing work. Choose a wash only slightly darker than the base, as a black wash would turn the panel lines into pencil marks. Apply dust and exhaust stains in layers and keep checking the model from a distance. If you use the shade for lettering and codes sprayed through a mask, thin the paint more and spray at a lower pressure from a shorter distance so that the edges stay sharp.
For modelers of German aircraft who work with schemes to the RLM standard. Check which machine and period the shade belongs to against the documentation or the painting scheme in the kit. This is a single shade; the thinner and other accessories are supplied separately, unless stated otherwise.
