An unassuming aid, but a very useful one on the modeling bench. The sticks come in handy wherever it would be a pity to use a brush or where a metal tool would scratch the surface: when mixing paint in the bottle, when applying and shaping filler, when picking up a small amount of glue or when holding a small part you do not want to soil with your fingers.
Typical uses
The sticks are an aid, not a precision tool: for the final shaping of filler or for fine touch-ups reach for a tool made for the job. After working with paint or filler, clean them before the material dries, otherwise a residue stays on the surface that then carries over into the next paint. Stir paint slowly at the bottom of the bottle so that you do not work air bubbles into it. With metallic paints the stirring matters especially, because the pigment settles at the bottom and without thorough mixing the shade will not come out. And one more small thing: never put a stick down on the model after picking up glue, because the drop runs faster than you expect.
