Unmown meadow late summer is finished grassy growth from the Czech manufacturer Model Scene, intended for planting into dioramas and display-case scenes. It is not a kit and not a model of a vehicle, but a scenery material with which you create a continuous area of tall, long-unmown grass on a base board. The growth is worked so that the stems stand and have a naturally uneven height — the area therefore does not read as an even carpet but as a real overgrown field margin.
The color tuning matches late summer: yellowed and ocher tones of drying stems predominate, with the last of the green still showing through between them. At this stage the grass is at its tallest, laid down in places, and the flower heads are ripe. Such growth suits scenes set in August and September — field margins and ditches along country tracks, unmown edges of land, overgrown areas around a parked vehicle or a strip of grass by a farm building.
First paint the substrate an earth tone, so that any gaps between the clumps do not shine through. The growth is attached with PVA glue or with thinly spread modeling glue, and small pieces can also be fixed with cyanoacrylate. Do not tear the meadow into regular pieces — an irregular, thinned-out edge works into a scene far better than a straight one. Soften the transition to a track, to rails or to a wall with a fine scatter or static fiber. The shade can be fine-tuned with a light overspray, but try it on an offcut first.
This is a scenery accessory for building dioramas, not a model kit. The glue, the paints and the base board are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
