A modeling pigment in a cement shade for representing dust and dustiness on vehicles, dioramas and masonry.
Responsibility details are not available.
A pigment in a cement shade is among the means for representing the wear and dustiness of a model. The grayish cast of construction dust suits vehicles moving around a building site or in a ruined city, tracks and fenders, the undersides of trucks and ruins and masonry in a diorama. It is precisely a fine deposit of dust that tells a model from a display case apart from a toy.
The pigment is applied only to a finished, painted and perfectly dry surface. One proceeds from a small amount: with a soft brush it is rubbed into the corners, gaps and places where dust would settle in reality too, and only then is the layer built up as needed. The excess is swept away carefully. The shade can be muted by mixing it with further pigments of darker tones.
Without fixing, the deposit stays sensitive to the touch. To set it, use a product intended for this range and go by the manufacturer's instructions on the packaging; do not choose the thinner or the fixative blind, because a solvent can attack the paint under the pigment. Try the fixing first on a hidden place on the model or on an offcut, and count on the shade usually darkening once dry.
The pigment will be appreciated by builders of military equipment, dioramas and civilian vehicles who want to give a model a setting. The model, paints and a fixative are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
