Light brown pigment for model water (Model Scene)

A toning pigment that is mixed directly into pourable model water, not a paint applied to the surface. Thanks to that the shade is formed within the volume and the depth of color grows with the thickness of the layer: a shallow spot by the bank stays light and transparent, while a deeper part of the area darkens of its own accord. Light brown is the most delicate of the three shades and the most forgiving of dosing mistakes, because even when slightly overdone it still looks like naturally clouded water.

When to reach for light brown

It matches water with sand and fine sediment: shallow streams, fords, puddles on field tracks, shallow ditches along roads and swollen drains. It also suits anywhere the bottom should remain visible beneath the surface: unlike the dark shades, light brown does not hide the detail you laboriously created under the water, it only softens it and pushes it into the distance.

Use

• Add it in small doses and mix the compound thoroughly each time, so that no streaks or nests of pigment form.
• Check the shade on a sample of the same thickness the finished area will have; in a thin layer the color is always lighter.
• For a ford or a shallow spot, pour the lower layer only lightly toned and leave the upper one almost clear.
• If you want muddy water after rain, add more pigment and leave the surface slightly rippled.
• Combined with the dark brown shade you can create a transition from a shallow spot into a deeper, clouded part of a watercourse.

Who the pigment is for

For builders of dioramas with water features, layouts and scenic modules where shallow, transparent and at the same time not entirely clean water is needed. It suits scenes with hardware in a ford or on a muddy track especially well, where the water should support the impression of the terrain rather than overwhelm it.

The pigment is added to model water; the model water itself is not included in the package. Work in a well-ventilated room, avoid breathing in dust from the pigment and close the container carefully after use. Keep out of the reach of children.
