A polishing compound in the coarse grade, 75 g. It serves as the first step in leveling and polishing cured finish on a model.
Responsibility details are not available.
A polishing compound levels the surface of a cured finish. It takes off a very thin layer of the finish and with it the graininess left by spraying, small dusty spots and traces of sanding. The coarse grade is meant as the first step, where the surface has to be leveled first. On its own it leaves a fine matte haze, so it is followed by a finer compound and finally by a finishing step that brings the depth of gloss back. The package weighs 75 g.
Apply a small amount to a soft cloth or a polishing foam and work in short strokes or small circles with light pressure. Divide the area into smaller sections and wipe the residue of the compound away with a clean cloth as you go, otherwise dried compound settles in the engraved lines and in the corners. On flat areas the work goes by itself, while on curves you should proceed more slowly. If the surface stays matte after the pass, move on to a finer grade rather than to greater pressure.
The finish has to be fully cured, otherwise the compound smears into the soft surface and leaves streaks. On edges, rivets and sharp corners the layer of finish is thinnest and the coarse compound will wear it through to the base, so it is better to avoid them. Try the procedure on an offcut with the same finish before working on the model. Keep the container closed and out of the reach of children.
It suits modelers who build cars, aircraft with a smooth gloss finish or anything else where every unevenness of the surface shows. Paints, varnishes, polishing cloths and tools are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
