Portable Electrostatic Flocking Machine

A portable electrostatic applicator for static grass

This is a tool for making dioramas and gaming terrain, not a model or a material. The machine creates an electrostatic field in which the individual fibers of static grass take on a charge, stand upright and plant themselves into damp glue perpendicular to the base. The grass then stands instead of lying, and the surface looks like a real lawn.

Why it is not enough just to sprinkle the grass on

Sprinkled fibers lie down flat and the result comes across as a carpet of dust. It is precisely the upright blade that makes the difference between a credible lawn and a flat green patch. An electrostatic applicator is therefore a standard aid of diorama builders and builders of wargaming terrain. The portable design means work away from the workbench, that is directly over a diorama under way.

Use

• First spread glue for static grass over the base and work while it is damp.
• Plant the grounding pin into the area or connect it with a clip, because without grounding the effect does not come about.
• Hold the mesh a few centimeters above the area and tap the machine lightly, so that the fibers fall evenly.
• Work in smaller sections, because the glue dries faster than it seems.
• Apply the grass in two layers of different fiber length, and the growth then looks more natural.
• Once it has dried, vacuum or pour the surplus fibers off and you can use them again.

For diorama builders, builders of wargaming terrain, railroad modelers and everyone who does grassy areas regularly and wants the same result from them as from the rest of the scene.

Static grass, glue and a power source need not be part of the package. Check the exact design, the power supply and the contents of the package on the packaging before buying. The machine works with high voltage, so follow the maker's instructions, do not touch the mesh while it is running and do not leave it within reach of children.
