A white Evergreen polystyrene strip with a cross section of 0.25x6.3 mm and a length of 35 cm, sold by the piece.
Responsibility details are not available.
The ratio of 0.25 to 6.3 mm moves this part closer to a sheet than to a bar. In substance it is white polystyrene, the same material from which kit parts are molded, so it joins with an ordinary liquid cement for plastic and once dry the joint holds as if welded.
A thickness of a quarter of a millimeter allows the strip to be bent over a cylindrical fuselage or laid onto a curved superstructure without lifting at the corners. It finds use as deck plating, as a covering strip over the transition between surfaces, as the cladding of the wall of a station building or as a simple way of breaking up a surface that is too smooth. It is cut with a sharp knife along a metal rule and the ends only need leveling with fine abrasive paper.
When building from profiles it pays to prepare several pieces of the same length in advance to a paper template. Differences in length show up on a finished wall far sooner than a small inaccuracy in width. Do not throw the offcuts away, as shorter pieces serve as shims under joints and as reinforcements inside hollow bodies.
The thinnest strips also serve to fill a gap. A piece glued into a gap and sanded down once dry levels out an inaccuracy of molding better than filler does, because under abrasive paper it behaves exactly like the surrounding material of the part.
