A flat styrene strip 1.5 x 4.8 mm. A wide profile for floors, fenders, ramps and paneling, wherever a continuous sheet of material should be visible.
Responsibility details are not available.
A ratio of sides of roughly one to three makes this profile a plank rather than a bar. At a width of almost five millimeters it covers a decent area, while a thickness of one and a half millimeters holds its shape even where the end overhangs freely. You will reach for it wherever a continuous sheet should be visible: a fender, the floor of a cargo bed, a loading ramp or wall paneling.
The width tempts you toward a saw, but the result tends to be frayed. It is cleaner to score a line against a metal ruler and break the material off; the edge then only needs truing up with a fine-cut file. If you want to suggest a chamfer or the seam between planks, draw the blunt side of a blade along the surface: styrene scribes just as easily as it cuts.
Wipe the surface with alcohol before spraying. A thin film is left on the profile from production, because of which the paint will not flow into the scribed grooves and the edges stay uncovered. Large flat areas of this kind reward a lighter color applied dry, because it makes every seam stand out.
Do not throw the offcuts away. Short fragments of a wide strip become wedges, spacers and blanking plates, which you will reach for during a build more often than for parts prepared in advance.
